about me

Briefly...

I  am a freelance art director, designer and illustrator.

I have wide agency experience (retail, financial, charity, DM, press, on and off line, POS, DRTV).

I've worked at many agencies over the years (Wunderman, EHSBRANN, Kitkat Nohr, TBWA, DLKW Dialogue, MSW Rapp Collins, PPHN) and a variety of design studios.

I've got senior experience, but I'm happy to work on any stage of any design job. I can take the job through concepts, producing Mac visuals, creating illustrations/art directing shoots/retouching, designing and producing finished print-ready artwork.

More about me

After finishing an illustration course at Ravensbourne College of Art (and some work in Germany for Audi, drawing car handbook illustrations), armed with airbrush and Rotring pens, I started work in a design studio, where I discovered cow gum, spraymount and lots of 'lick and stick'.

A couple of years of 'pre Mac paste up' later and I got my break into advertising, as a marker visualiser.

I went freelance after a few more years and worked as a visualiser, illustrator and designer for a wide variety of clients: from agencies such as PPHN and Arc Direct, to illustrate for Penguin publishing and even visualising handbag designs for Anya Hindmarch.

A long freelance session with Evans Hunt Scott turned into employment there for about 10 years, travelling with them from Edgware Road to Soho and then Farringdon - where I traded marker pens for a Mac and art direction. They had a great selection of clients to work for: Tesco Clubcard, the AA, Peugeot and Microsoft to name a few. And I was privileged to be teamed with the wonderful copywriter Paul Moulton.

Back to freelancing and working (now mainly with another great copywriter Fran Perillo) for agencies such as Kitkat Nohr, DLKW Dialogue, EHSBRANN. Plus direct work for clients such as BT Conferencing, Capita and even Havering Council.

The main client in the last few years has been the AA, working in their in-house studio - a fantastic chance to work on everything from art direction of campaigns, web and print, exhibitions, social media, icon/logo design, app asset design, livery design and DRTV.

At the same time I've returned to what I was originally trained in: airbrushing - producing (big) art for commission or pleasure.

I'm still freelancing and happy to work for new clients.
